A method for determining arc breakdown in low-voltage electrical networks

In low voltage distribution networks, there is a high risk of fires caused by wiring faults that lead to short circuits. Arcing protection devices (ARCs) already exist, but experiments show they also often do not disable such faults. The operation most existing arc fault detection based on the frequency current components and their comparison with load profiles. For fast recognition low-frequency oscillations can be assessed, which serve as marker presence in LV network. This method networks easier implement practically. Using windowed Fourier transform or Wavelet analysis, it possible determine change time harmonic current, will characteristic sign an along other signs.
